To book or for further details: Book, Info, Tel: 07976 374482. Baroque dance, a precursor of classical ballet from the late 17th/early 18th centuries, was danced at royal balls and on the stage. The dance rhythms may be familiar to those with a knowledge of the music of the period, and include the minuet, sarabande, bourée, gavotte, gigue and the French courante. Composers to write Baroque dance music include Lully, Purcell and Handel. This annual summer school covers the technique, presentation and reconstruction of Baroque dance, and is open to all levels. It is an ideal opportunity for those new to Baroque dance to gain a thorough grounding in the basic skills, or for more experienced dancers to benefit from intensive in-depth study. The summer school consists of three self-contained modules each of which can be viewed as a short course. Those who do not wish to attend the full summer school may attend any one or two modules, or for just a weekend. The final day (bank holiday Monday) will finish with a period ball to celebrate the 21st year of the summer school. | |||

Join David Schönthal from Rhythm Tap Cardiff to learn two tap dance routines to different styles of music. Participants will tap for 1h 15min per routine with a half hour tea break. Hot drinks and biscuits will be provided. Skill level: the routines will be aimed at tappers at a slow/fast intermediate level (roughly two years of tap experience, or at least improvers level for Rhythm Tap Cardiff students). Tappers with less tap experience can book on after consulting David at Rhythm Tap Cardiff. Workshop attendees must be 18 or older. Come and let your heart beat to the rhythm of your feet! | ||
